A moment captured during a rainstorm with someone you love.
It’s a dark, windy night, and the rain is coming down hard. We are driving to get some food. We hear the rain whistle, and the thunder startles us. I park the car in the parking lot.
“It’s so dark outside,” I say while the window wipers are going back and forth at the same tempo as the song we are listening to.
The rain is pouring, and we stay inside the car to wait it out. I look at her, and she looks at me with those unforgettable eyes. I smile at her and say, “You ever feel like we as humans are like raindrops? Nowhere to be found, blending in with all the other raindrops, and when we hit the ground we are no longer anything?”
Her eyes make their way to mine, and she makes me feel so comfortable. She doesn’t have to speak, and I already feel loved.
She looks outside and back at me and says, “Maybe sometimes, but I know that I am so thankful to be a raindrop with you.”
Her comment is so cute and loving.
It looks like the rain won’t be stopping. I say, “Let’s make a run for it.”
I turn off the car, run over to her door, grab her hand, and we run through puddles and rain across the dark, barely lit parking lot.
We get inside soaking wet and eat burgers, fries, and a milkshake.
I wonder if she knows that I will love her forever.
